PHILLIP MARSHALL - SENIOR WRITER

Phillip Marshall, Alabama’s Sportswriter of the Year for the years 2006 and 2007, has been named the lead writer for Auburnundercover.com, an ESPN-affiliated web site devoted to Auburn athletics. It will debut on July 1. Marshall, 58, is a veteran of more than 38 years covering sports in Alabama. He has won more than 30 statewide writing awards and is a two-time winner of the Herby Kirby Award, presented annually by the Alabama Sports Writers Association for the best story of the year. Since 1994, Marshall has been the Auburn beat writer for The Huntsville Times. In February 2007, he started “Tracking The Tigers,” a popular blog on al.com devoted to Auburn athletics. He has authored three books. Marshall previously served as sports managing editor at The Huntsville Times, sports editor at The Montgomery Advertiser, sports editor at The Decatur Daily, assistant sports editor at The Birmingham Post-Herald and sports editor at The Huntsville News.
