Default Pray for Zac Etheridge

Everyone should keep Zac in your thoughts and prayers after his horrible injury Sat. You never want to here that someone may not ever play the game again. Zac has been a bright spot on the D all year and a true Auburn Man. Get well soon, Zac. We hope to see you on the field again wearing the orange and blue.

You know thats right bro. We all hate to see this happen no matter what team the player is on. We forget sometimes these are just kids and have their whole life in front of them. They come in to play football for our teams with the slight chance of severe injury while working on a college degree seeking to improve their chances of success in life. It breaks your heart to see these things happen. I think we should all keep praying but not only believing for complete healing but also going ahead and thanking God for it. I pray that he will have a complete recovery but I also pray for him to be able to play football again. Not for my sake or even the school, but for him because that my friends would be a tear jerker in max proportion. I hope to see some sort of contribution on the uniforms of the Auburn players for the rest of the season.

I saw the play on TV, but haven't heard what the actual injury was. I'm in Pittsburgh so news like this doesn't make it up here. Was it a concussion or something worse??

It was a neck injury, looked like he jammed it. On the TV replay, you could see where his head butted hard into Coleman's shoulder pads as they tackled Rodney Scott. He went limp right away, lying face down across Scott on the ground.

Thankfully Rodney Scott had the presence of mind not to try to get up until they got Zac loaded onto the backboard - if he had moved and jostled Zac, it could have made things much worse.

(Ironically Scott had decommitted from Auburn to commit to Ole Miss.)

serious neck injury. it has been reported that he has movement in his extremities and a full recovery is expected, per the latest reports.

He is finished for the season. As for the future, it is wait and see.

If they are saying that then my guess is he may have fractured a vertebrae but no spinal cord injury. That would explain the "full recovery expected" part. But that may well preclude any further football. I attended a Pitt game last year and one of their linebackers fractured his neck in the first game----and he is back playing this year. But that is the exception, believe me. I am the team physician for a local high school football team and I can tell you that running onto the field to evaluate a player who isn't moving is the SCARIEST thing I do. I've dealt with horrible open fractures and dislocations, etc.----but it is the head injuries that make my hair turn gray. Keep praying for Zac everyone.
