Default 2010 Tigers in Good Shape?

From a player personnel standpoint how good do you think Auburn will be in 2010? Rate each position with a Better, Worse, or Same rating.

OFFENSE

QB: Better
I think Rollison will give the Tigers a true dual threat QB that will thrive in Malzahn's system.

RB:: Same
Tate has been really good but I think Dyer has the potential to play at the same level. We will still have McCaleb, Fannin, and Smith also.

OL: Better
We are only losing one starting OL guy in McCain. McCain was a backup until his senior year and I believe he was probably only a starter because of lack of competition. In 2010 we will have some recruits pushing for a starting spot.

WR: Better
We are not losing any of the guys we have and we should add a few young recruits also.

TE: Same
TE is not a huge part of the Malzahn offense and even though we are losing a good player in Trott, we still have Lutzenkirchen.

Offensive Depth Better
We are only losing 4 starters on offense and we have a QB and RBs on the roster that can fill two of those slots. We also have a very good RB commit in Dyer. Wr and OL depth should also fair well due to the freshman class. Finally, one more year in the system will help everyone.

DEFENSE

DL Same
We will be losing Coleman which is a big loss. However, maybe due to this system or injury, he has not played as well as he has in the past. Coleman is the only starter we are losing on the D-Line. Auburn already has two 4star DE committed and I think due to experience and depth the D-Line will be better or the same.

LB Better
We are not losing any starters and have a few solid commits that will help next year.

Saftey Better
We are not losing any starters, with the possible exception of Etheridge. Bates and Washington should just get better.

CB Worse
It will be hard to replace McFadden and as of today we do not have any great DB recruits.

Defensive Depth Better
We are only losing two starting defensive players and we will get a freshman class with more depth at almost every position. Our DBs still seem to be short handed for 2010 unless we sign a few more.

Overall Better

Auburn has to get better and I believe they will in 2010. They may not be a world beater but they will have a better team from a player perspective.

What do you think?

I agree with the exception of TE, Lutzenkurchin will be much better than Trott. And, losing McFadden will be tough. I think Demond Washington, who has been awsome this year, will be at corner next year. Have we tried him as a punt returner?

I agree with most of your points. However, do not rule out Trotter taking over in the QB spot with Caudle, Rollison, and Mosley all in the mix!

You think Trotter is that good huh? What do you think held him back this year? I have always heard good things about him.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Demond step up either. I think we have tried him at punt returner. I may be mistaken but I think he muffed a punt.

Washington will be back at corner next year guaranteed. If Etheridge can't come back, McNeil and Bates will start at Safety. Then we'll have Washington and Thorpe starting at corner, which I'd feel good about. Neiko's developed very well. The only position that will be wide open next year is at QB (and RB to a certain extent, but I think it'll be the same names just different roles to fill the Tate vacuum), unless we take a large attrition hit somewhere else. I guess there might be some fight for the nickel CB spot, but they'll probably move D'Antoine Hood back there.

Washington did do punts for a lil bit but didn't have much success. Really our troubles have much more to do with our return blocking than the return man himself... they don't have time to catch the ball and get upfield. Though PPL made several dumb decisions against Furman after making good choices up until then. I guess it's a moot point now since he's injured, but Stallworth moves so well in space why didn't we ever try putting him back there? Or did I miss that?

Also, you missed special teams. Byrum will still be there so that'll be the same or better. Durst graduates, but Shoemaker is still there and there's also the new guy coming in, I forget his name, but he was the top punting prospect in the country. When was the last time that happened when a team got both the top P and K in the same year?

I just don't see it....I follow the NFL and the draft pretty closely and I haven't seen anything about them going in the first three rounds of the 2010 draft. Most players don't leave early unless they are going in the first two rounds. But most draft experts don't comment on Jr. Offensive linemen unless they declare for the draft.
