Default Bowl Game

Alabama is going to kick our butt, so maybe we'll get a crappy team in our bowl game. That way we can win, and have an 8 win season. 8 wins is pretty respectable.

Perhaps, I won't call any game a loss or win before it is played though the Bama game does really worry me. As for the bowl game, getting in a low bowl comes with the likelihood of being against a team with something to prove and happy for the change to have a name like Auburn to prove it against. They way this team is playing, both sides of the ball, there is no easy bowl opponent.

And rebuilding year or not (which of course this is) the consistent manner in which this team fell flat when victory was within reach or simply stumbled all over themselves giving their opponent every opportunity to win is anything but respectable. The UGA game was the game for respectability this year, that game plus 'Ole Miss would have turned around the 3 game slide and given Auburn the chance to take their shot verse Bama and the bowl opponent without concern of how it impacted the season or record, but in losing the UGA game they are now facing the need to win against Bama to avoid a miserable performance against 4 out of their last 5 opponents (excluding homecoming offering from that). No win verse Bama means little to take in to the off season feeling good about and a rebuilding year that ultimately leaves as many questions unanswered as answered which is at best a wash.

Oh yea of little faith! I wonder how the Utah fans felt before the Sugar Bowl last season? Do any of you remember what you felt prior to the 1989 IB? How did those games come out? Where are the fans that were in the seats during the torrential downpour before the WVU game? So you are a little disappointed by last night's game. Big deal. Get over it and get behind your team and your coaches for the IB. We are the Auburn Family for Pete's sake! Wear your Orange and Blue with the pride they deserve. If you are worried about the outcome of the IB, then don't watch the game. In fact, go ahead and turn in your Auburn fan identifications and accessories. Some deserving fans could use the extras.

WDE dang it!

OH NO! - you better watch out - here come the "who are you to say who is and who isn't a REAL Auburn fan?" crowd.

I said I give up on no game before it is played, but I am also not so delusional as to think we can beat a seriously well prepared team like Bama playing the way we have been playing. Can they get it together and pull out a win, sure - but do I know how difficult it will be, of course. Give me a break with the deserving fan stuff.

I wasn't necessarily singling out you. I am a little sensitive to some of the 'Oh No! We have no shot at beating Bama...our coaching staff is horrible BS.' The Tigers have been good at times, an abysmal failure at others. Auburn is a bit low on talent and personnel these days, but it is changing. Our coaches are doing the right thing. They are building a positive, family atmosphere on the Plains, and bringing in some top talent that appreciate that philosophy to boot. The success on the field will come.

This will be the second straight year I watch the IB as the only Auburnite in a room filled with Bama fans. So what if I have to swallow a little pride? I did it last season... but maybe, just maybe, my Tigers can pull it off. How sweet would that be?

-Auburn fan always and forever....WDE

I seen about 50 AU/uat games and I can tell you that there is no worse place to watch that game than with bammer fans. You're in a no win situation.... winning or losing. Find you another place to go watch it.

I wish I could. They're family. ;o( They are good people though. Otherwise, there would be NO chance of it happening!

Not so sure we get a crappy bowl. Check the SEC, after Florida and Alabama, there is LSU (likely to be 9-3 or 10-2) and a bunch of teams that are all 7-5 (with Ole Miss maybe being 8-4) or 6-6.

I think we still get one of the top four bowls (Cotton, Capital One, Outback, or Chick-fil-A). It's probably split up between LSU, Tennessee, Georgia, and us. It's possible Ole Miss slides in front of us, but I kind of doubt it.

I agree with jadennis, the bowl game doesnt appear to be that bad at all. One that Auburn has seen the likes of many times.

Oh by the way, I dont count Auburn out on beating bama two weeks out, even the day of for that matter. "Objects in mirror are bigger than they appear".
