I may be thick tonight, it has been a long day, but what is the
"two for one on first day" all about? I only have two season tickets this year and my kids are all over me to go.

Phillip, it's no secret that Auburn has a passing game problem whose solution will have a big influence on the 2009 season. Being picked fifth is almost a given with so much in question. First there is the fact that there are precious few days for coaches to establish familiarity with a new system and a new staff of not just coordinators, but the whole shebang. Then there is the business of melding the quarterback, O Line, and receivers kinto a working machinie. How long will it take, and will it occur before the start of the SEC stretch in the Sched. Quick is not liklely given the open search for a quarterback. Then there is the question of the defence and the way it will perform given a three and out offense and that is what we'll have unless the passing game jells pretty quickly. SEC teams seem to come up with passers who challenge defensive backs, ours have been not found shining in 2007 and 2008. Some would say that we are picked higher than earned. But look at it positively. Improvement over anticipated will markedly affect Auburn's position in the SEC weat. If a quarterbaack steps up, all of a sudden our offense is not toothless. If the O Line learns to protect against monster and quick defenders, our fangs grow. Receivers that run routes and hold on to catches and along with teeth in the offense, we'll hear roars from the crowd.
The other SEC teams are good, and we may not be fair if we measure Chizik against a position in the SEC west. We may have to look for improrved performance as the season goes on as an indicater of where we stand. I think Auburn will play better than fifth, but may not show it in terms of games won, bjut in improved junderstanding of what the doaches want to happen. Patience is called for.

i don't really have a gut feeling. He hasn't said he's going to be there and I don't have a list, so I don't know. Bottom line is I'm not helping you much. I wouldn't be surprised if he went to any of the three- Auburn, Alabama, Florida. I don't think he's the kind of kid that would stretch it out if he knows what he is going to do.

Phillip, what is your gut feeling on Corey Grant? He has said he will decide at the end of the month, is he expected to be at the next event at Auburn .

I have been told the Birmingham News had had two reporters looking into things in Gadsden. What they have found or not found, I have no idea. I certainly have no knowledge of what has happened there. Honestly, I hope it's not true. If the two sides in this state aren't careful, they are going to destroy each other.

    Mr. Marshall,

I highly doubt you pay attention to Paul Finebaum. But today on his talk show I heard comments that made me stare at the radio in disbelief.

First, he didn't seemed concerned at all by what he was saying. I have always felt he was a big time Alabama fan. But today it was how he said it that really struck me as odd.

To set the stage, he was talking with a caller who was obviously an Auburn fan. The fan seemed well informed. I don't get to listen much, but apparently Finebaum had interviewed the NCAA guy about the ruling against Alabama. The Auburn fan was asking Finebaum if he purposely failed to ask the guy about the stuff going on in Gadsden. Finebaum told him that while he had seen a thumbnail of the allegations, he didn't feel there was anything substantially significant to them. He did tell him that he was very close to the guy and that if he had known something, that was true, he would have asked him directly.

But what he said next floored me. He said something like a "major news" organization (I assume this was the Birmingham News) had all the findings that was researched by "Auburn friends" but in much greater detail and was considering which path forward to take.

My question to you since you are the voice of reason, what do you know about this? I wouldn't wish this kind of stuff on anyone, but find it a bit funny that this story just will not die. I have warned others about talking about this stuff and here I am asking you about it. Is there truth here?

Phillip, There seems to be several "non-sports/non-Auburn" related smut postings as of late. Does anyone screen this type of post, and remove it? I know as a user I do not want to see, nor risk the computer viruses associated with, these types of posts. HELP!! Thanks.
