Those changes stuck, mostly because no Auburn Grad hates anything more than that which injures Auburn. Such can't happen. The interim President did a great job, never acknowledged in the world of journalism, in straightening the lines of communication, and other influence at Auburn. And, a man that knows best and is well regarded in these posts has said that if Trustees attempted to micro-manage as they are alledged to have done in the past, the President is out the door. Then SACS as well as other forces including the Governor, will come down on the Trustees like a ton of bricks.
For what ever reason, and I believe there is no proof to the contrary, Trustees understand that in athletics the lines of leadership go from coaches, to the head coaches, to the AD, and to the President. Fans that say differently just won't accept that times have changed since 2004. One can hardly see any advantage to Auburn in publishing clap trap to the contrary, and we see that on ever rarer occasions. But it does happen today. As far as Mr. Lowders personal wealth, if he's lost some I hope he recovers all of it. The man is generous to a fault regarding Auburn's needs. I'd rather he have the money than any other grad that has come to my attention.
Much of what I know about this subject has come from reading Phillip Marshall. If I'm all wet, I can be corrected easily enough.
