Default There wasn't a single atheist on board their landing craft...

Less we forget …65 years ago … the longest day began for many … with too few left among us to hear our “thanks”…

There are no atheists in foxholes, and none at a math exam.

Today we honor the heroes that gave their lives and those who survived that day.
I often wonder what happened to the greatness that once existed in people.
I wonder whether or not we could face such a challenge today. As Brokaw so perfectly stated, they were the greatest generation. Our troops today are no less, but our heart as a nation does not seem to live up to that of 1944 America.

God Bless America! God Bless the souls of all who were there on the beaches, living and dying in Hell to provide us with the paradise that we call freedom.

Well said hater. And I wonder the same thing about today's America....to what extent we would be able to step up, as that generation did. I still have a deep belief that we would find it in us, as a nation, but it certainly remains deeply hidden for the most part.

I sit with my jaw open as the world, along with way too much of our own country, applauds our new president for promoting his populist philosophies in place of Reagan's capitalist views.

But anyway, it was that generation that guaranteed that we could even be here to discuss it.

From time to time I watch the first 30 minutes of Saving Private Ryan, as I've heard in quite a few documentaries that it is the most realistic recreation of "see you on the beach" ever made. Always hits me, every time, reminding me of how "easy" my life really is by comparison.

While dumb dumb's speech was on Saturday, I muted it and pulled up Reagan's 1984 speech on the 40th anniversary on Youtube. Much better
