Default apparent IRS seizure of AU professor's Bank account

Anyone know anything about this?

update look like a credit card debt has caught up with him

I knew the IRS could do this but was not aware a CC could ?

usually a court order is issued for wage garnishment in these cases. I did not know that they could have your bank accounts seized for CC debt.

I had that guy as a Philosophy Professor at Auburn in the mid 90's. Very strange cat.

So he's had time to blog about it and setup a paypal link for donations but he hasn't had time to contact an attorney? Sounds fishy to me. I would also not be so cavalier about receiving such a large bill from the IRS. I would be on the phone everyday until I got some sort of payment plan setup or the interest dropped. I've owed fed taxes before and they are very flexible with payment options...and not that difficult to get a hold of.
