Not making light of her case.

Who says UK's system is perfect? It's just leaps and bounds better than American.

Infant Mortality Rate :

United States : 6.28 / 100,000.
United Kingdom : 4.63 / 100,000.

Know your facts. Here are the infant death stats of the world's best healthcare systems:
Hong Kong 2.92
Japan 2.79
Sweden 2.75
Bermuda 2.46
Singapore 2.31

( reference : For UK
For USA )

sigh

the point of the article was not overall infant mortality rate or what is best for the group.....but rather that a group of doctors made a decision based upon general national guidelines and not based upon the individual situation.......the decision was removed from those that were on the scene.

I, personally, thought that the young woman in the article was a poor example to use for this story based upon her previous difficulties in giving birth.

What is the old saying : "One can not run/micro-manage a war in SE Asia from the West Wing of the White House"

same goes for health care.......I want the doctor there on the scene to rely on his/her training and instincts rather than what was written by some panel in DC.....no two health cases are alike and no two human bodies are exactly the same.........you can not bureaucratically "heal" people....

let me put it this way.......had that been my wife and my child......there would have been a need for 2 (or more) holes to be dug.

Your infant will have "Three Times" better chance in Singapore. A 33% better chance in the UK, even with NHS guidelines.

Will you please stop exploiting her misery to score political points by being all emotional?

Most of your readers are educated. Try founding your logic on facts and statistics instead of emotions. This is not faux news.
