Default Women's rankings make no sense.

Auburn is only 5th, behind three teams with losses?

The RPI is even worse: we're 10th behind Tennessee at 5th, the same team we destroyed on Sunday.

What gives?

Rankings make NO difference in BB. It's a great sport because it has a playoff where you will get a chance to prove you're number one. I like the low ranking for AU -- gives more incentive to try harder.

Memo to college football presidents: Your system of determining number one is also great. It's great because it shows all the true championship sports just how stupid everything would be if there weren't a playoff. Ra Ra you back woods presidents.

Man, your post is spot-on. AU Women are the only undefeated team besides UConn (and it looks like we've played one more game) and we're ranked number 5/10RPI???

The names above us sound like the Womens version of the national beauty contest of programs...like you said; at least they will have a tournament to prove that they should be #1 or #2 on the court. In football, the Oklahoma's, OSU's, USC's etc. enjoy the exact same, undeserved, "automatic-status" every year.

The impact is the seating in the tournament. #1 seats usually get the easier path and play closer to home...at least the men do.

I was confused by that too, it's kind of a combination of the fact that we haven't played many quality opponents and that the SEC is kind of down this year. But we have faced a few top notch opponents and handled them with ease. I was pretty shocked we didn't jump more after beating the CRAP out of rocky top. Either way I think we'll be able to keep winning and get a #1 seed which is all that matters really. It also hurts that I don't think we've had a nationally televised game all year whereas some of these teams like UCONN, UNC, and OU have prolly had a few. Once again we're hurt by the fact that we started out the season ranked lower than we should've been. (2004 be damned)

We're number four. I saw it last night on ESPN.

Yea as far as RPI goes, we aren't gonna get any higher. We played too many 100+ (and a couple 200+) RPI ranked teams, and the remainder of the SEC schedule isn't much better.

Luckily that doesn't matter, as we're a shoe-in for the NCAA Tournament and that's where we'll make our statement.
