Default NCAA? No.

WE might think Auburn is a team on the proverbial bubble, but apparently we're the only one doing any bubbling.

This is the response from Jerry Palm, the RPI guru in relation to Auburn and our chances of making the tournament:

I can't answer my phone or check my e-mail without getting a question about Auburn, and for the life of me, I can't figure out why. The Tigers are a slightly above average team in the weaker division of a below average major conference. They have a one-point win at home over Tennessee, and that's it. Yes, the Tigers have won seven of eight, but other than Tennessee, the wins have come over the other league punching bags. There's nothing to see here, folks. Move along, please.

Damn.

Okay, I'm back on the "time for a change" wagon. Lebo's had five years. That's enough.

He also gets the NCAA field right the vast majority of the time. If he says AU's not in the mix, you can believe it.

but he is basing his comments on games played to date.............

Its March and I am going to enjoy the possibilities..............

AU will play LSU (maybe twice more) and will have chance to play 1 or possibly two of the other SEC bubble teams...............

the Selection Committee will consider a team's last 10 games and who and how they played...............we have a shot and our destiny is in our hands

beat LSU Saturday and make it to Sunday in St. Pete and Jeremy can take his theories and go fly a kite.......loose Saturday and we have to win the SECT

Survive & Advance/Lose & Go Home

Beats the hell out of winning them all and then someone who doesn't have a clue telling you you cant go to Miami and play for it, just because.....

Okay. Be as hopeful as you want.

Hope doesn't change fact. It's something Obama should learn.

No matter what Auburn does, if the team does not win the SEC-Tournament, there will be no NCAA bid. That can't be any more clear at this point.

I hate it as much as anybody.

I don't think it is clear at this point that we have to win the SEC to get to the NCAA. We are in range, with a win vs LSU, a few in the SEC, and the right combination of wins/losses by other teams... who knows? Who would have thought a 2 loss LSU team would get to the BCSCG a couple of years ago until a few other teams lost at the wrong time?

Jerry Palm of College RPI.com -- and RPI is given more credence that anything in reality when it comes to this -- said this about Auburn (as posted above):

I can't answer my phone or check my e-mail without getting a question about Auburn, and for the life of me, I can't figure out why. Is that clear? Crystal.

Auburn wins the SEC tournament or is relegated to the NIT. PEEE-REE-ODD.

We are not on the bubble. We are not in the neighborhood of the bubble. We don't even have any soap with which to create a bubble.

Does that make me happy? Absolutely not. But denying it is foolish.

He can say what he wants to say, but he doesn't do the picking and they aren't picking them today. What teams are on the bubble changes as the games are played and the season progresses. Our RPI has been going up as we win, others have been coming down as they lose. There are games yet to be played. We could have what, 4 more games and win 3 of those, losing in the SECCG. That might get us to the NCAA, might not... and the same guy that said we weren't even in the ballpark (at one time) might be singing our praises.

I also don't agree with the field of 64 much of the time. He needs to relax. Auburn fans are just excited. Must he grace us with his balloon popping? Let us enjoy this.

He doesn't mean anything to me. And his opinion won't sway mine in one swoop of a wand.

sorry that is simply not a fact......it is a distinct probability......but it will not be a fact until the bracket is filled..........

and i never used nor implied the word 'hope' in my above post..............
