"Lebo pointed out that the West has a .500 record against the East in games this year, something that hasn't happened in nine seasons. (Note: I have not independently verified this yet, but I assume he is correct)."
A quick check of the SEC website confirms Lebo's comment. As of today the west is 17 and 17 in games against the east.
So where does this "the west is weaker" nonsense come from?
LSU running away with the west probably helps that assumption, I think both divisions are pretty equal. I might give a little edge to the east but not much.

Both divisions are just one small step away from terrible or maybe pathetic, whichever is worse. Let's face it, the SEC spent all of its money on football and the few crumbs left over are not going very far. That really doesn't explain what has happened at Kentucky though.
The SEC is not very good this year but will rebound and become stronger in the years to come. Cant see the SEC allowing the conference to be thought of as weak by the Media in any major sport. (way to much pride) and the loss of funds and prestige by way fewer teams in the NCAA tourney. I would think AD's at most of the SEC programs will be putting more recources into the BB programs.
