Default I prefer an NIT invite

Don't have too much time to type, but...

I prefer an NIT invite for several resons.

If they go NCAA they will be a 15-16 seed range and probably lose to a 1 or 2 seed.

If they go to NIT they will be a 1 or 2 seed and host a game or two. Chances of winning a few games is greater, more playing time and experience for the non-seniors. If they could make it to New York (I assume MSG still host final four) it would be a great trip for the seniors.

I know an NCAA bid is "sexier", but a NIT bid will be better for the program.

Sorry, but you're off base. That said, it's probably what we'll get, but the "sexier" NCAA tourney is sexier for a reason.

I disagree...to me that is like saying I would rather go to the Independence Bowl instead of the Sugar Bowl...also, if we make it (doubtful at this point), we would be 10-12 seed playing 5-7 seed which is a game we could win...I bet if you asked Coach Lebo and the players what they thought it would be NCAA...that being said, I do think we will end-up in the NIT especially if MSU beats UT today and it will be a good opportunity for the seniors to win a "championship" and maybe play one more game at Beard-Eaves.

Yeah, I can't really agree with this.

It's like saying you didn't really want to go home with the prom queen, you really wanted her homely cousin instead.

And just coincidentally, the homely cousin is right by your side.

What good does a one and out in the NCAA achieve?

It is very similar to not being bowl eliglible. You miss all of the extra bowl practices. If we win a few in the NIT it has far greater lasting impact. Isn't that what we want a program for he future not for one game this Thurs or Friday?

It's not like football, where younger players aren't getting as many reps...our young guys have been practicing and playing all season...also,we are not a very young team so additional practice is not a big issue. Plus, there is no guarantee that we are not one and done in the NIT...the NIT will have some very good basketball teams that just missed getting-in like us (assuming we don't get in of course).

Which was my point. Yes, the players would like to play in the big dance. I still think they would be no higher than a 14 seed, which would make it very hard for them to get out of the first weekend.

I think hosting a game and playing for another month would build the program much more than probably one game.

Thank you for posting a reason why you disagree and not just making useless posts. you make very good points. I just remember a handful of teams in the past few years that made it to MSG then had very good seasons the next year. I believe bama was one of those teams a few years ago. I think the point is now "pointless" since AU has almost no shot at NCAA with Miss St and USC winning the last few days.

I get your point, but just don't agree...IMO our program would be better off playing in the NCAA Tournament and losing the first game, than winning a couple of games in the NIT. Also, if we did get in, no way we are lower than a 12 seed (my guess would be a 10 seed)...UGA (17-17) was a 14 seed last year after winning the conference tournament, which (I believe) is the lowest seed a major conference has ever had.

Regardless...no need to belabor the point...we are headed to the NIT so let's make the most of it.
