Jeff Lebo isn’t going to Virginia Commonwealth. The idea never made any sense.
Lebo has worked hard to get Auburn’s program in position to compete, overcoming lots of obstacles. Why would he up and leave for a mid-major school? And how would VCU come up with the $1.5 million buyout to get him out of his Auburn contract?
VCU has not asked to speak to Lebo and, according to reports in Virginia, won’t ask to speak to Lebo. So we can put that away as a rumor that was never going anywhere.

It made sense in one respect...Lebo likely realizes that his "great run" through the last half of the SEC season was largely due to the rest of the SEC sucking! And to top that off, he loses 3 starting Sr's off this team that finally came around. Lebo won't survive next season without a miracle, and he probably knows it.

You are entitled to your opinion. I share a different opinion. We are lucky to have Lebo and I believe we will be very competitive next year and the years ahead.
I hope Coach Lebo gets a modest raise and stays for next season. I am not expecting any miracles, but now is not the time to change head basketball coaches. Coach Lebo has a respectable recruiting class coming in and Auburn should be able to compete in the SEC West next year.
I feel coach Lebo has to put the tigers in the NCAA tournament next season or its time to replace him. The 6 years he will have coached is more than enough to build a program (if he is the right man for the job) I feel he earned another year even though the SEC was weak, and he is bringing in a nice recruiting class with a couple of transfers from big time programs. Next BB season will answer the questions on coach Lebo remaining or getting fired.

My opinion is based on the fact that he's done nothing until this season, and what he did this season was be an upper half SEC team in a year when the SEC was probably the lowest it's been in modern times, and still couldn't make the big dance, and then as a #1 seed lost at home in the early rounds of the NIT. Then I combine that with the fact that he loses Barber, Barrett, and Robertson...there's no rational reason to expect the same or better next year if you know how much those three contributed this year.

Sullivan, Waller and Reed will be as good a threesome at guard as anyone has. Lucas Hargrove should have a big year. Knox, Lett, one of the transfers who couldn't play this year or a freshman will have to replace Barber. That will be the biggest chore.
I am optimistic
Lebo stays and Auburn will get better and better. He is a good coach and has learned from some of the best.Just one shot away from going to NYC and that matters.
I think we will be better than people think next year...the kid (McGee) that transfered from IU might very well be the best player on the team (at least that is what I've been told...FWIW). The kid form OU is solid, we have a decent recruiting class, we do return very good talent (Sullivan, Reed and Waller)in the backcourt and we return all our key frontcourt subs...we will see, but I'm with WDG...optimistic that Lebo will earn another year next year.
