Wesley Johnson, an offensive lineman from Montgomery Bell Academy in Nashville, earned an Auburn scholarship offer at last Saturday’s camp. Offensive line coach Hugh Nall called on Tuesday to let him it was official. A written offer was in the mail.

“Coach Nall called yesterday and confirmed it’s in the mail,” Johnson told AuburnUndercover.com. “I’m really excited about it.”

Johnson, who will go to Vanderbilt's camp on Sunday, said he isn’t ready to commit just yet. But he said Nall made it clear that there is a time limit.

“He was real cool about it,” Johnson said. “He said there are only two more spots left on the offensive line, and if I were to make a decision, I’d have to do it pretty soon. But he was real understanding about it.”

Johnson said Auburn and Vanderbilt are his leaders.

He said he also has offers from Kentucky, Duke and Middle Tennessee State.

“There’s nothing that would stop me from committing early,” said Johnson, 6-foot-5 and 240 pounds. “I’m sort of going to take it as it comes. I’m going to Vanderbilt on Sunday, and that will be it (for visits).”

Johnson said he was honored to get an offer from Auburn.

“Auburn is a top-tier SEC school,” Johnson said. “I thought Coach Nall was one of the best coaches I’ve met in the process so far. It’s Auburn. That’s really all you have to say about it.”

About Vanderbilt, he said, “I like Vandy because I have good relationships with all the coaches. It’s about 10 minutes from the house.”
