Linebacker Jawara White of Troy/Charles Henderson missed two games because of a pulled muscle, but he was back for the Trojans
' 14-7 victory over Eufaula last Friday. White normally plays on offense and defense, but he played solely on defense in his return. He had 14 tackles.
“I did not play of offense, and that is why I was so fresh on defense and able to make all those plays,” White told us. “I had to make a good entrance back to the field after being out.”
Linebacker Jake Holland of Pelham sprained his knee in the first half last Friday against Hoover. His popped out in the third quarter, but he played through the pain and missed only two snaps. He had 13 tackles, including 10 solos and two for losses.
Safety Demetruce McNeal of College Park, Ga./Banneker sprained his knee in practice and did not play in Banneker's 31-8 win over Lithia Springs.
“We just thought it was the best idea to hold Demetruce out of the game,” Banneker coach Ed Gosa told us Monday. “He was back out there practicing today and he will be good to go for our game this week.”
Offensive lineman Chad Slade of Moody was injured on the first play of overtime in Moody's 20-17 win over Sylacauga last Friday. He bruised his knee and he had an MRI Monday.
Slade's step-father, Joseph Shorter, said the team trainer did not feel it was anything serious but suggested an MRI just to make sure.
