AUBURN - After almost two weeks of practice, senior guard Tay Waller says he sees plenty of promise for Auburn's basketball team.
"Practice has been going well so far," Waller said. "Everybody is working hard and fighting for playing time. "We*ve been working on offense and defense, but most importantly, defense because we feel like we can beat anybody if we can stop them.
"Everybody is ahead of where we were last year at this point. We feel like everyone has adjusted to it already. The first three days of practice, it was a little rough, but everybody is adjusted now. We are all looking forward to playing, and the season is coming fast."
Auburn coach Jeff Lebo, heading into his sixth season, said his players have come ready to work each day.
"The guys' energy is great," Lebo said. "They have probably been one of the best groups we have had as far as coming and competing every single day. The one thing we have is some depth. We have great competitive practices because of that depth, and we have some guys who are pretty good who can play."
Lebo said his signing class has been all he expected and more.
"I think this is the best group of freshmen and newcomers we've had since I've been here," Lebo said. "They can do a lot of good things."
The Tigers play an exhibition game against Miles College on Nov. 6 before playing their final season opener in Beard-Eaves-Memorial Coliseum on Nov. 13 against Niagara.
