Auburn could get its second big-time football commitment in a week Friday morning.
Trovon Reed, from Thibodaux (La.) High School, is rated the nation's No. 9 wide receiver
and No. 45 prospect overall, He is scheudled to make his announcement at 10 a.m. He has narrowed his choices to Auburn, LSU and Oregon. And Auburn appears to be in prime position.
Reed chose Friday as his commitment date because it is his late mother's birthday.
Auburn has been at or near the top of Reed's list since last spring. Wide receivers coach Trooper Taylor has made a big impression.
"Me and Coach Trooper are real tight," Reed said. "I look at him like another dad."
And head coach Gene Chizik made an impression, too.
“I never really sat down and talked to a coach that just talked about family,” Reed said. “He never really talked about football
. He just talked about family, and that is very important to me.”
