A look at today's news from around the Southeastern Conference. ...
RETURN OF GREENE: A.J. Greene, Georgia's star sophomore wide receiver, is expected to play in Saturday's game against Auburn at Sanford Stadium, Bulldog coach Mark Richt said Sunday.
Greene missed last Saturday's 38-0 win over Tennessee Tech with a bruised lung.
Defensive end Justin Houston, who sat out the game with an elbow injury, is also expected to be back, Richt said.
The Bulldogs (5-4, 3-3) play No. 25 Auburn (7-3, 3-3) at 6 p.m. CST on ESPN2.
STREAKING GATORS: With a 27-3 win over Vanderbilt last Saturday, Florida extended its school record winning streak to 19 games. The Gators are tied with the 1961-62 Alabama teams in a tie for fourth in SEC history.
Florida will try to make it 20 straight in Saturday's game at South Carolina. A win would move the Gators into a tie for third in SEC history with the 1993-1994 Auburn teams.
BIG LOSS FOR LSU: Tailback Charles Scott suffered a broken clavicle at the end of a 34-yard run for LSU's second touchdown in a 24-15 loss to Alabama and is out for the remainder of the regular season.
RETURNING WILDCATS: Tailback Derrick Locke and wide receiver/Wildcat quarterback Randall Cobb, who sat out last Saturday's 37-12 win over Eastern Kentucky, are expected to return for Saturday's game at Vanderbilt.
RED-HOT CROMPTON: Going into Tennessee's game against Auburn on Oct. 3, Jonathan Crompton was perhaps the most maligned quarterback in the SEC.
He struggled through the first three quarters of that game, but led the Vols to 16 fourth-quarter points in a 26-22 loss. Since then, he's been as hot as any quarterback in the SEC, throwing 16 touchdown passes, two interceptions and averaging 216 passing yards per game.
SENT TO TIMEOUT: Tennessee coach Lane Kiffin sent running back Tauren Poole to the locker room during last Saturday's game against Memphis because of what he called an issue on the sideline.
Poole, a sophomore, was at practice Sunday and is expected to be available when the Vols (5-4, 2-3) travel to Ole Miss (6-3, 2-3) on Saturday.
"I didn't like the way that he handled that issue," Kiffin said. "I met with him, and we're moving on.”
