Today is a special one for all of us at AuburnUndercover.com. It’s our first birthday. On July 1, 2008, we went online for the first time.

On that day, we had a story welcoming readers to our new venture. We had a Q&A with then-head coach Tommy Tuberville. We had stories on Tom Luginbill’s view of Auburn’s recruiting class, cornerback Neiko Lipscomb being cleared to report to campus, Hunter Morris talking about playing for the U.S. National team and Margaret Hoelzer going for more Olympic gold.

And we were off and running.

We’ve learned a great deal since that day. I’m convinced we are a lot better in a lot of ways. I’m also convinced we can get a lot better.

Most of all, it is those of you who have honored us with your presence here who have made it a rewarding experience for a lifelong newspaperman.

Today is a special one for the Marshall family, too. It was 33 years ago, on July 1, 1976, that a beautiful blonde-haired girl named Teresa walked down the aisle and became my wife. Three children and four grandchildren later, she’s still beautiful. She’s the love of my life, my rock in times of trouble and my very best friend.

It’s a very special day, indeed.
