I was talking to a friend the other day, and he asked me how this football coaching change has been different than others I have witnessed at Auburn.
I have been on the scene for five coaching changes. None of those regimes, not even Pat Dye’s, were embraced in their early days with the enthusiasm with which Auburn players have embraced Gene Chizik and his staff.
The thing that makes it remarkable is that most of the players were only vaguely familiar with Chizik, if at all, when he was named head coach in December. So why has it happened? How have Auburn players, almost to the man, come to believe that Chizik is right man at the right time for their program?
