Every time a coaching change takes place in college football nowadays, it is nearly a given that many players will follow the old coach to their new school for the sake of consistency and trust.

With the welcoming of Alex Golesh to the Plains as the newest head coach of the Auburn Tigers, the program saw 13 players follow him over from USF, where he resided for the last three seasons.
What that means is some of the core spots that Auburn had holes in following the 2025 campaign have been filled by previous Bulls, creating a new look to the team—mostly the offense.
As fall camp begins this week, and report day takes place tomorrow, here is one USF transfer on each side of the ball that will be worth looking out for both throughout fall camp and as the season gets going when the first game rolls around on Sept. 5.
Keshaun Singleton, wide receiver, junior
Keshaun Singleton was one of five wide receiver transfers that arrived at the Plains from Tampa, Florida, and the junior has the potential to be one of the top targets for quarterback Byrum Brown this year.
Singleton and Brown were teammates at USF, which became a connection that was a focal point of the offense last season. Singleton caught 50 passes for 877 yards and eight touchdwons in 2025, serving as the team’s leading receiver.
The wide receiver has spent all three years of his college career under Golesh with the Bulls and started 18 games in that span. He has also tallied four games where he surpassed the 100-yard mark.
At 6-foot-3, 215 pounds, Singleton is tied for the tallest receiving target among the USF transfers, along with Jeremiah Koger.
Despite the donning of new colors and playing in a new league, Singleton is still expected to play a major role in the Tigers offense this fall.
He certainly stands to help with familiarity in a big way, as he comes over with Koger, Chas Nimrod, Christian Neptune and Kory Pettigrew.
That group along with others will work to move up after the receiving corps finished 15th in the SEC in receiving yards per game at 197.1, finishing ahead of only Missouri, who had 188.
Fred Gaskin III, safety, junior
Gaskin is joining a safety room that is riddled with talent, one that will be a massive benefit to DJ Durkin’s defense in 2026. Along with guys like Sylvester Smith-Reed, Champ Anthony, AnQuon Fegans, Eric Winters, Kaleb Harris and more, Gaskin adds to the list of players that put this room on watch.
The safety’s 53 total tackles last year were good enough for sixth on the defense and fourth among players in the secondary. In addition, he also recorded one sack, two interceptions, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries in 2025, with one of the fumble recoveries being run back for a touchdown. His performance saw him become a threat all over the field, maximizing his impact.
Gaskin spent two years playing with the Bulls under Golesh and appeared in 26 games in his career. Last year’s play saw him net Second Team All-American Conference honors as well.
Standing at 5-foot-10, 198 pounds in a loaded safety room, Gaskin will have to separate himself from a group that has experience with Auburn.
However, the junior just adds to the talent and depth the safety room already has, making him a valuable asset when his name is called.
It is still undetermined as to what kind of role he will play in the secondary or the rotation itself, but that will be figured out as fall camp rolls on and the practices continue up to the Baylor game.
The Tigers defense is looking to improve on an effort that in 2025 saw it finish 11th in the SEC in average passing yards given up, surrendering 229.8 per game.
Auburn opens the 2026 campaign against the Baylor Bears on Saturday, Sept. 5 in the Aflac Kickoff Game in Atlanta, Georgia at 2:30 p.m. CT.
