Health going into a season is always a big part of any football team as the beginning of a new season nears, as it plays a big part into how a team builds their scheme.

With fall camp beginning on Wednesday, Auburn is preparing to put the finishing touches on its tactics and depth chart with one month until the season opener in Atlanta.
Alex Golesh addressed the media on Tuesday and provided an injury update on a number of players, providing an idea as to what should be expected going forward.
The most significant of those came in the form of offensive lineman Tai Buster, who will miss an extended period of time at the beginning of the season.
Golesh announced that the redshirt freshman took on an “unfortunate deal” at the end of the summer period, leaving a hole for Tyler Hudanick’s offensive front. Because of the injury, Buster is expected to be available again halfway through the year, missing the first five or six games should everything go well. This makes Stanton Ramil’s recovery and road to full strength that much more important.
“It’s unfortunate for him because he’s had an incredible summer and he is working his tail off to get back,” Golesh said.
On the defensive line, senior Chris Murray is expected to return in the middle of camp after experiencing a “touch-up deal” at the end of summer as well. However, Golesh feels optimistic about where he is in his recovery.
“He’s doing really well,” Golesh said. “We hope right in the middle of camp he’ll be back and full-go.”
Sophomore secondary players Newboy Fegans and Shamar Arnoux are both reahbbong and being considered day-to-day, being expected to make quick recoveries as camp starts.
Devin Williams is another sophomore cornerback that has had his career plagued by injuries. After suffering a torn ACL in the spring of 2025 and missing his entire freshman year, Williams suffered a knee injury this spring and is set to miss the entirety of the 2026 campaign.
On the front portion of the defense, linebacker Will McDuffie is continuing to come off of surgery from the spring, but Golesh said he should be available in the closin portions of camp.
The only other update to come from Golesh was in regards to freshman defensive lineman Corey Wells out of Petal, Mississippi. Wells suffered an injury at the tail end of his high school career and is in the final stages of rehabbing from that setback. Golesh hopes to have him back on the field with the team before the end of the fall camp period.
“The biggest thing for us is to get out of the camp one as a better football team, a closer team, and just as important, if not more important a healthy football team… For us to have the success we need to have, we’ve got to stay healthy,” Golesh said.
