Since 2021, finding many star Auburn players that have stayed through the trials for their entire career has been hard to come by. However, Tigers running back Jeremiah Cobb has been one of those few.

Now that he is entering his senior season, Cobb has transformed into one of the guys that the entire team looks up to most.
For him, it is an odd feeling, but it is one he definitely has enjoyed.
“It’s so weird,” Cobb said. “It happened so fast and I definitely enjoy talking to these younger guys and once being in their shoes.”
What that growth has looked like is him stepping up and being more vocal with the guys he is closest with—his fellow running backs.
The backfield has taken on a lot of competition since the end of last season, but the room has grown closer as a whole. With guys like Omar Mabson II, Tae Meadows, Bryson Washington, Nykahi Davenport and more, Cobb said the role of being the major voice has had some of the pressure taken off of him.
“As a leader, I’ve definitely talked more amongst my guys in the running back room,” Cobb said. “They make it easy for me, so I feel better about that.”
Cobb was extremely complimentary of Mabson and his growth specifically, speaking highly of his maturity in year two.
Coach Alex Golesh said in his Tuesday press conference that Mabson is “on a mission to win a job.” Cobb echoed that sentiment, saying the young back is making a solid impression.
“I’ve seen (Mabson) grow in lots of ways,” Cobb said. “He came in mature already, knowing a lot. He’s definitely just stacking that up.”
Having all of those guys in a competitive room makes him feel a lot better about the position the rushing game is in. Now it’s time for them to display that, and it is that toughness and drive that Cobb said he came to the SEC for.
“I think it will be awesome,” Cobb said. “I came to the SEC for that and that’s just what anybody would ask for. I’m excited, I love those guys. Every one of them works hard and that’s a great room.”
Outside of his leadership though, Cobb has also grown physically, moving up to 208 pounds since last year.
He contributed that to the work that George Courides does with the team to get their bodies right. Despite it being a significant step up in weight, Cobb said he still feels like he’s in a good spot as a result.
“I feel good. Geo (George Courides) did a great job of making sure it’s not bad weight, but making sure it’s good weight, so I’m excited about that.”
With all of the change that has come through the program, it is evident that Cobb has embraced it with positivity.
One of the biggest messages going into the season is that Golesh wants to establish an identity of being physical and violent on the field, running an aggressive style of play that moves with purpose.
Even with the changes physically and his growth into a leader, Cobb said that he feels very prepared alongside the rest of the offense to be able to move the ball effectively and stay at full strength at the same time.
“You can tell that the stuff we do conditioning wise has definitely trained us for it,” Cobb said. “It’s definitely tough, but I’m excited about it.”
Now, as the team goes full throttle into preseason camp, Cobb is focused on a few things, trying to make this senior year the best of his career on the Plains.
“It’s definitely just being a great teammate, somebody that everybody can lean on in hard times of the game and definitely just leadership,” Cobb said.
