“At the corps we are a very young group. It’s exciting to see it because you see the growth. While everyone has played some a bit, it’s still about getting those guys Saturday ready,”
One of those young guys is sophomore Jourdin Crawford. Crawford was part of a talented 2025 signing class of defensive linemen that Auburn will be counting on up front this season, along with some returners and transfers. He shared what it’s been like practicing together with a new group of players this camp.
“We are still learning with each other. Learning each other who work best with each other. We are still doing great.”
Crawford played in nine games last year, registering two tackles in primarily a reserve role. He shared with Auburn Undercover what his key to success this year will be. “It takes a lot of technique to play in the SEC. You can be strong and fast but with no technique you won’t last.”
King-Williams also told Auburn Undercover what Crawford and his fellow young defensive linemen will need to improve upon to expand their roles this year. “Be consistent day-to-day. Challenging them to do that. Still a work in progress. I do like the work we are getting in and the steps we are taking.”
During Wednesday's practice, the team competed against each other in an impromptu scrimmage period. Coach King-Williams shared what he liked about his group during that time.
“The ability to say put the ball down and let’s go. Okay you warmed up. It’s out of our comfort zone but now what are you gonna do. There’s no excuse. Go put the ball down and let’s go be physical. I think they all brought the juice and came with it.”
As the team and defense gets ready for tomorrow’s scrimmage inside Jordan-Hare Stadium, Crawford talked about the message his coach gives the group before they hit the field everyday.
“Just go hard. Give everything you got. Put everything you got on the line. Keep going. Even when it is hard keep going.”
Head Coach Alex Golesh will speak to the media following the scrimmage tomorrow. Auburn Undercover will be there to cover it and have all the latest intel.
