Former Auburn star Jackson Koivun's FedEx Cup run comes to an end

The race for the 2026 FedEx Cup Championship is entering its second week. Over the weekend Scottie Scheffler captured the FedEx St. Jude Championship. The win kept his hopes alive for winning the overall PGA season championship.

One player who did not advance to the next stage of the championship is former Auburn Tiger and 2026 3M open champion Jackson Koivun. He finished the tournament at -3. That was good for a 24th place finish.

The way the FedEx Cup scoring works is the top 50 players advance to the next stage of the playoffs. Koivun, with just a few starts on tour after leading the Tigers to a second national championship in three years, was not able to accumulate enough points to reach that plateau. He entered the championship standings 70th, and his 24th place finish was only good enough to move him up three spots in the standings.

While Koivun is no longer fighting for the season championship, he still has the opportunity to win additional tournaments. The PGA season will officially wrap up in November. On Thursday players will compete in the BMW Championships. The tournament will take place at Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis, Missouri.
