“The biggest thing I am proud of is how much this team has come together…these guys genuinely care about and respect each other.”
This is what Auburn football head coach Alex Golesh had to say following the team’s second scrimmage Wednesday morning. He said they did a lot more rotations which included repping some of the twos with the ones. Some of that shakeup involved the quarterbacks.

“Tristan (Ti’a) took one reps today. Lock and Rhys took two reps offensively. Which is good with the one and two o-lines.”
Golesh had high praise for a number of players today. One of them is a guy who has played for him before, USF transfer wide receiver Keshaun Singleton. Golesh said he is proud of the progress Singleton has made and is challenging him to be more consistent.
“It’s all come together for him this summer. Proud of him. Challenge for him as I literally tell him every morning is can you do it every day? He is playing at a high high level. Playing really confident. I’m really proud of him but that’s a day-to-day deal. He’s an incredible teammate. Loves football. It’s just everything else that goes into it learning to grow.”
One area Golesh feels still needs improvement is situational awareness and the guys taking control of that. “That takes time,” Golesh said. “That takes the play calling getting on the same page with the guys. That’s why I say we still need two more days of us working on us to get closer to that.”
This Auburn football team was constructed largely from the transfer portal, particularly on offense, with experienced players, although Golesh observed today that his team is still young in some key positions. That has led to some of the team’s failure in what Golesh calls “situational football.” Although experience is valuable, Golesh feels the mark of a really good team is measured by something completely different.
“Focus throughout a week. That’s the hardest thing to do. As much as experience from a football side matters, the game of football is 11 one-on-one matchups. Certainly scheme matters. The things you do in terms of blocking and tackling all of that matters. The ability to focus in today’s college football is the name of the game.”
Golesh and the team will get an off day tomorrow before getting back on the practice field Friday. The team will then move into a mock game week schedule next week. 17 days is all that remains between Auburn traveling to Atlanta to take on Baylor to kick-off the 2026 season.
