The quiet assassin. That is what cornerbacks coach DeMarcus Van Dyke used to describe senior transfer Andre Jordan, Jr. He says Jordan doesn’t say much and let’s his play on the field do the talking. Coach Van Dyke added Jordan has impressed the coaches in other ways too.

“He’s an awesome kid to be around… How he carries himself off the field and on the field is top notch man. I’ve been pleased with how he has been carrying himself.”
Jordan told Auburn Undercover today that camp has consisted of mostly going over plays and scenarios. He says the cornerbacks, specifically, have been challenged with a “next play” mentality. With Jordan being one of the new guys to the team this year, he talked about the chemistry between everyone in the cornerback room.
“I feel like it's been really good so far in this camp. I feel like since camp started, it's been way better. Everyone's helping each other out, trying to get each other better every day,” Jordan said.
Jordan also said Coach Van Dyke challenged him to be more physical after spring practice concluded. He told Auburn Undercover he has put on 20 pounds to get to 190. Van Dyke has seen this make a difference in practice and feels it will translate into games.
Van Dyke went on to say, “I feel this year he (Jordan) is going to get a few interceptions because he has been getting a lot in practice. He and Rayshawn (Pleasant) be on the jugs a lot.”
Van Dyke added that Jordan has good ball awareness and one of the best ball skills of anyone in the room. Head Coach Alex Golesh said Wednesday there were several players getting reps at both corner and safety. While Jordan has been solely at corner, he shared what this depth says about the guys in the secondary.
“I feel like we have, every DB can play. If one gets tired, someone else is coming in, there's gonna be no drop off,” Jordan explained.
One of the new guys getting reps at corner is former wide receiver Bryce Cain. Golesh said they moved Cain to defense to increase depth on the back end. Coach Van Dyke told Auburn Undercover why he feels Cain will be a good fit for his group.
“He has a bright future at corner because he has the two traits you need ball skills and he has top end speed. Everyday we focus on his press technique and understanding the coverages.”
