Jackson Koivun named for United States Presidents Cup squad
Another honor has rolled in for former Auburn phenom Jackson Koivun as the newly-turned pro has earned one of the distinct honors a professional golfer can get.

On the first day of September, Koivun was selected by Brandt Snedeker, captain of the U.S. Presidents Cup team, as one of three rookies to participate in the premier event, which this year will take place Sept. 24-27 at Medinah Country Club in Chicago.
Koivun broke headlines early in his professional career when he won the PGA Tour’s 3M Open, an event that was just his third start as a professional golfer.
At age 22, the rookie tied Tiger Woods for fewest starts before making the FedEx Cup Playoffs at five. He locked in his spot in the postseason thanks to his finish of being tied for 29th at the Wyndham Championship.
He was able to advance to the FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis out of the first round, where he finished tied for 24th and missed out on advancement, having needed to tie for seventh at the end of the weekend.
During his collegiate career, Koivun became the first golfer to sweep each of the three national player of the year awards twice in the Haskins, Hogan and Nicklaus Awards. He also was a three-time SEC Player of the Year and was honored with a First Team All-America spot by both Golfweek and PING.
Koivun won individual SEC Championship in each of his three seasons on the Plains while also helping the program to win two national titles.
The Auburn star will join Scottie Scheffler, Cameron Young, Wyndham Clark, Sam Burns, Russell Henley, Collin Morikawa, Chris Gotterup, Xander Schauffele, Justin Thomas, Patrick Cantlay and Jacob Bridgeman on Team USA.
As of present day, Team USA has won 10-consecutive Presidents Cup titles, going for its 11th-straight one later in the month.
