The Auburn Tigers put together a solid game in their home opener against the Southern Miss Golden Eagles, walking away as 43-8 victors in Jordan-Hare Stadium.

A number of players spoke to the media following the action, and here are a few of their most notable quotes after the victory to move to 2-0 on the year.

Andre Jordan Jr. on the defense getting early turnovers two games in a row:

“I feel like it gets us hyped up. We can keep that hype throughout the whole game. Yeah, start early.”

Stanton Ramil on the offensive line play this week:

“I think we had a lot of good moments, a lot of moments we wish we could get back. The protection still has to continue to clean up. Keep Byrum healthy, keep him on his feet at all times. Run game's got to be super consistent. Like I said, I think we had a bunch of explosive runs out there. But just being able to keep ourselves out of negative plays or just being backed up by penalties and whatnot, so we've got to do a much better job and clean all that up.”

Byrum Brown on the work of wide receiver DeShawn Spencer:

“He attacks every day like a pro. He comes in and works, puts his head down and works. Not a man of few words, but always looking to get better and asking what I'm seeing, asking what he can do better. He treats every day like a pro, even in practice.”

Omar Mabson II on staying alert during the weather delay:

“Just staying loose, staying warm. Not letting that affect how you play, how your game is, how your mindset is. Just keeping the same mindset.”

Alex McPherson on Alex Golesh keeping it real with the team:

“I think AG does a great job of telling you when you do a great job, and then at the same time he’s got to keep it real with you and let you know that’s not the standard. That’s what he does. He’s real. He’s never changing. I think that’s what allows him to do that. We know that’s not to the standard and that’s what he’s going to hold us to. It’s really good. I think that kind of sets the standards for the players, for our program, really. I think players want to uphold that just as much as he does. It was a great win, it wasn’t what we want it to be, but it was a great team win. We got a lot to improve on, and looking forward to the rest of the season.”

Malik Autry on how big this performance is ahead of the Florida game next week:

“It's huge. We always talk about no matter who's in front of us, we're gonna play our standard and play how we're supposed to play every single game. So we're gonna watch the film and get coached hard and correct what we gotta correct because the schedule gets no easier and doesn't matter who we're playing against, we're gonna play the same level of defense every single week. It's huge to have this confidence going in next week, but also to get the coaching and fix all the things and fine (tune) some of the details.”
