AUBURN — Auburn added another major piece to its 2027 recruiting class Wednesday, securing a commitment from four-star edge rusher Marquis Evans of Spain Park High School in Hoover.
Evans announced his decision over finalists Florida, Miami, South Carolina and Tennessee, giving first-year coach Alex Golesh another in-state recruiting win as Auburn continues to build one of the nation's top 2027 classes.
The 6-foot-5, 235-pound Evans is regarded as one of Alabama's top prospects in the 2027 cycle. He is ranked among the nation's top defensive linemen and is widely viewed as one of the state's premier pass rushers after a rapid rise over the past year.
Evans becomes the latest addition to an Auburn class that has surged up the national recruiting rankings during a busy summer. His pledge strengthens an already impressive defensive haul and gives the Tigers another long, athletic edge prospect with significant upside.
Auburn made Evans a priority early in the recruiting process, with edge coach Coleman Hutzler leading the effort. The Tigers hosted Evans for multiple visits, including an official visit in June, before ultimately winning out over several SEC rivals.
Evans' commitment continues Auburn's recent momentum on the recruiting trail as Golesh and his staff work to establish the foundation of their first full recruiting class on the Plains.
