VIDEO: Auburn coaches meet with media following Florida loss

AUBURN, Ala. — Auburn coach Alex Golesh and his coordinators met with reporters Monday to put Saturday’s loss to Florida behind them and turn their attention to Vanderbilt.

Golesh was joined by offensive coordinator Joel Gordon and defensive coordinator DJ Durkin for Auburn’s weekly press conference at the Woltosz Football Performance Center. The Tigers fell to 2-1 with a 44-39 loss to Florida in their SEC opener Saturday night at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Golesh called Auburn’s start against Florida about as poor as he could have imagined, pointing to missed tackles, defensive misalignments and a lack of early execution on offense. He said many of the defensive issues came from players getting to the right spots too late and that correcting those mistakes will be a focus in practice this week.

The conversation also turned quickly to Vanderbilt, including the Commodores’ tempo and quarterback Jared Curtis. Golesh said Curtis has been impressive early in his career as Auburn begins preparations for its second straight SEC game.
