Junior wide receiver Keshaun Singleton caught his first touchdown pass of the season against Florida on Saturday. He is also tied for the team lead with 17 receptions. Singleton talked about the connection he and quarterback Byrum Brown have had so far on the young season.
“I feel like BB, we've always been on the same wavelength,” Singleton said. “We just had to show it.”
Through three games, Brown is carrying the football ball almost 40 percent of the total team rushing attempts and over 50 percent against power four competition.
Head Coach Alex Golesh and Offensive Coordinator Joel Gordon are hoping the running backs portion of the Tigers rushing attack will take off sooner rather than later.
Since the opening week win against Baylor, Golesh has talked about getting better perimeter blocking to help spring the running backs. Auburn Undercover asked Singleton what goes into perfecting that aspect of the game.
“Just working on our hands every day, on our hips, and actually being able to sit down and block somebody, and actually sustain a block is gonna be better for us this week,” Singleton said.
The Tigers are preparing for Homecoming Saturday. Vanderbilt pays a visit to Jordan-Hare Stadium, hoping to win its third in a row against Auburn.
Singleton said when watching the Commodores on film they run primarily cover zero. Singleton feels this is a coverage that plays in his favor and he and his fellow receivers will be able to exploit.
“Yeah, I'll take advantage of a zero any day of the week,” Singleton said.
Kickoff between Auburn and Vanderbilt is set for 3:15 p.m. CST. Auburn has not lost on Homecoming since 1991.
