Two Auburn players will wear USA across their chests this month.
Catcher Chase Fralick and right-handed pitcher Jackson Sanders have made the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team and will compete in the World Collegiate Baseball Championship in Taichung City, Taiwan.
The tournament is scheduled for July 11-15.
Fralick and Sanders give Auburn two players on the final Team USA roster, a significant honor for both and another sign of where the Tigers’ program stands nationally.
Sanders earned his spot with three shutout appearances during the team’s evaluation period. He allowed two hits and struck out four, continuing a strong run after a standout season at Auburn.
Fralick also made the final roster after starting throughout the team’s exhibition schedule. He reached base consistently and showed the defensive presence behind the plate that made him one of Auburn’s most important players.
Freshman Ethin Bingaman also took part in the training camp. He did not make the final roster but made a strong impression, finishing among the top offensive performers for his squad.
Team USA opens play against Korea on July 11, then faces Chinese Taipei on July 12 and Japan on July 13. The medal round follows July 14-15.
For Auburn, it is another strong summer headline after a season that put several Tigers in the national spotlight. For Fralick and Sanders, it is a chance to represent their country — and Auburn — on one of college baseball’s biggest stages.
