The Auburn Tigers have closed the book on their slate of games for the month of September, having won against the Vanderbilt Commodores on Saturday.
Alex Golesh, Kodi Burns and Jacob Bronowski are set to speak to the media in Golesh’s weekly Monday press conference. Below is a live update thread from the session:
Alex Golesh:
- Golesh commended the environment and thanked the fans for the atmosphere they created.
- The first two drives were really poor, but then the offense got going and got a little more comfortable.
- The defense gave up too much in terms of the run game against Jared Curtis and allowing him to scramble for a number of yards.
- The players don’t need to asusme they have learned and grown enough, they need to keep going.
- The team has to make this week of preparation about their process and getting better, especially considering they are going on the road.
- Faizon Brandon has a lot of challenges he presents and will test the defense, especially with his legs.
- The familiarity with Josh Heupel and his staff is nice, but is fascinating to see the evolvement they have had since Golesh left.
- Thought as the run game went, they found some opportunities.
- Golesh commended Jourdin Crawford for his development through this year.
- The staff has tried to be smart with when and how they run Byrum Brown.
Kodi Burns:
- The team is in a good spot heading into preparation for Tennessee.
- Josh Heupel has built a good product at Tennessee, and Burns has grown a lot from his time in Knoxville.
- He is confident in where they are going offensively.
- The pass game is in a good spot, but they have to continue to grow.
- Keshaun Singleton is beginning to show his development and play his best football since arriving at Auburn.
Jacob Bronowski
- Hudson Kaak helping to minimize punt return yardage has been huge.
- Keeping the ball away from good punt returners has a lot to do with scheming and player execution.
- Guys responded the right way to seeing the fake punt pass play.
