Former Auburn football staffer charged with theft of trade secrets
AUBURN, Ala.- A Tennessee man, who previously worked at Auburn University, has been arrested.
Officials charged 24-year-old David Jenrath with theft of trade secrets and computer tampering.
Warrants had been issued for his arrest. On Monday, Jenrath turned himself into police. He is currently in the Lee County Jail on a $15,000 bond.
Auburn police say the charges stem from an incident on South Donahue Drive. That’s where it was reported that proprietary information had been stolen and shared with competitors. Police add Jenrath was alerted by one of the competitors he allegedly gave the information to.
Court filings say Jenrath allegedly stole information, about Auburn University Athletics, without consent. Filings also say he tampered with computer systems. Right now, it is unclear which opponents received the material.
Auburn University did not confirm Jenrath’s role in the athletic department or his current employment status.
