Alex Golesh’s squad heads into the bye week sitting at 3-2 on the season, coming off of a 24-14 loss on the road to the Tennessee Volunteers in Neyland Stadium, a game that saw Volunteers running back DeSean Bishop rush for a career high 220 yards and three touchdowns.

Auburn now is in full prep to hit the road next weekend for a game against the Georgia Bulldogs, who take on the Alabama Crimson Tide this Saturday in Tuscaloosa.

Following the game against the Bulldogs, the Tigers will close out the month of October with a home game against LSU and a road game at Ole Miss.

With no game for Auburn, the Auburn Undercover staff continues on with another round of predictions for the coming week, which includes our game of the week and nine other games from around the nation.

Current standings:

1. Caleb (37-13)

2. Tyler (35-15)

3. Ryan (33-17)

4. Ronnie (29-21)

5. Jay (24-26)

GAME OF THE WEEK:

Alabama (-1.5) vs. Georgia

Tyler: Alabama

I don’t know what it is about this game that gives Georgia fits, but it just does. In the recent history of this battle between two marquee programs, Alabama has had the upperhand, and this has the potential to be one of the better meetings in that time. Both quarterbacks are exceptional, but I think this game comes down to the running game and which defense can make more crucial stops in the middle two quarters. With the Crimson Tide’s defense being uber talented and Chauncey Bowens out for the Bulldogs, I have Alabama getting another headline win under Kalen DeBoer.

Ryan: Alabama

Kirby Smart is just 2-7 against the Crimson Tide. Alabama is going to be able to throw on the secondary that the Bulldogs have in place, and while I think that Georgia can score against Alabama, I’m just not sure it can score enough. Give me Alabama.

Caleb: Alabama

These two quarterbacks have been phenomenal to start the season and either one of them is capable of leading their team to victory. However, when I look at where this game is being played, combined with the dominant performance against Mississippi State last week, I can't pick against the Crimson Tide. Give me Alabama in an offensive shootout.

Jay: Alabama

Georgia always struggles against the Crimson Tide. I know it got the monkey off its back in last year's SEC championship. If this game was in Athens, I would feel better about taking Georgia. I think it being at home, where Alabama rarely loses, and with this history against the Bulldogs, I'll take the Crimson to win in a close one.

Ronnie: Alabama

Alabama and Georgia are two of the SEC’s biggest heavyweights, and this matchup should be another physical, hard-fought battle. Both teams have the talent to win, but the difference could come down to which team protects the football, controls the line of scrimmage and makes the most of its opportunities in the red zone. Georgia will have its moments, but I expect Alabama to make a few more plays in critical situations and find a way to come out on top.
