Auburn guard and Utah State transfer Kolby King has been granted clearance to play for the Tigers based on a ruling from the Ohio Supreme Court.

Chief Justice Sharon L. Kennedy signed a ruling on Wednesday that stayed the ruling made by Judge Christopher Wagner of the state’s First District Court of Appeals. Wagner’s ruling allowed the players in the Ohio lawsuit that graduated in the high school class of 2022 to retain eligibility for the 2026-2027 season due to the NCAA’s five-in-five model.

King was one of a large group of plaintiffs, which included former Auburn player Keyshawn Hall, that was part of the initial lawsuit that led to the granted preliminary injunction.

In his most recent season of college ball, King played 36 games for the Aggies of Utah State, where he scored 7.5 points per game, 3.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists. He also shot 47.7 percent from the field and 39.3 percent from distance.

The guard began his career at St. John’s before moving onto Tulane and Butler before arriving at Utah State.

This seemingly temporary eligibility comes fresh off the heels of other eligibility news. It was announced on Oct. 8 that Tigers center Narcisse Ngoy from France was granted two years of eligibility, while Lithuanian Mantas Rubštavičius has now sued the NCAA in an effort to gain his.

Auburn kicks off its exhibition campaign on Wednesday night when it takes on the Florida State Seminoles in Boutwell Auditorium in Birmingham, with the opening tip set for 7 p.m. CST.
