The rest of Auburn’s schedule just got a lot more interesting.
With the Tigers’ monumental upset over No. 1 Georgia over the weekend, Auburn is now a couple wins away from securing the program’s first bowl bid since 2023. Regardless, the rest of Auburn’s schedule still features a mixed bag of opponents.
Some are celebrating wins over ranked opponents by large margins, while others are finding themselves in unfamiliar territory. Here’s how the remainder of Auburn’s opponents fared in their Week 7 games.
LSU
Result: LSU defeated Mississippi State 31-0.
LSU bounced back from a loss against Kentucky with its first shutout since 2023 and first against an SEC opponent since 2007 — also against Mississippi State. Sam Leavitt turned in perhaps his best performance of the season, throwing for 289 yards and four touchdowns with just seven incompletions in 38 attempts.
Wide receiver Jackson Harris led the team with 85 yards receiving and hauled in a pair of touchdowns from Leavitt. With the win, LSU moved up to No. 18 in the latest AP Poll.
Next up: LSU (5-2) travels to Auburn (4-2).
Ole Miss
Result: Ole Miss defeated Missouri 31-3.
This top-15 matchup didn’t feel like one, as Ole Miss stomped on Missouri in Oxford. Trinidad Chambliss scored all four touchdowns for Ole Miss, throwing for three and adding one on the ground.
Kewan Lacy rushed for 122 yards, while Makhi Frazier also topped triple digits with his 101 yards rushing. Ole Miss moved up to No. 7 in the AP Poll with the win.
Next up: Ole Miss (5-1) travels to Texas (4-2).
Arkansas
Result: Arkansas defeated Vanderbilt 31-21
Ryan Silverfield notched his first SEC win as Arkansas ended a 14-game losing streak to conference opponents with a road win over Vanderbilt. The Razorbacks didn’t turn the ball over and tallied 438 yards of total offense.
KJ Jackson threw for 251 yards and was the team’s leading rusher with 58 yards and a score. Cam Settles was responsible for the other two offensive touchdowns, while Joker Johnson intercepted Vanderbilt’s Jared Curtis in the first quarter and ran it back 25 yards for the defensive touchdown.
Next up: Arkansas (3-4) is on a bye week.
Mississippi State
Result: Mississippi State lost 31-0 to LSU.
Without starting quarterback Kamario Taylor or lead running back Fluff Bothwell, Mississippi State looked totally different on offense. The Bulldogs turned in a season-low 291 yards of total offense and were shutout for the first time since 2020.
Next up: Mississippi State (4-2) hosts Oklahoma (3-3)
Samford
Result: Samford lost 31-21 to Mercer.
Samford gave up 276 yards rushing and Mercer quarterback JP Pickles scored three times on the ground as the Bulldogs’ dropped their sixth game of the season.
Meanwhile, Samford tried Charlie Gilliam at quarterback, as Gilliam got his first start of the season. He completed 14 of 23 pass attempts for 123 yards and had one pass intercepted.
Next up: Samford (1-6) travels to Furman (2-5)
Alabama
Result: Alabama lost 26-10 to Tennessee.
Knoxville is becoming one of the tougher places to play for Alabama, which has now lost the last three road games to rival Tennessee. It’s the first time the Crimson Tide have lost back-to-back games in the regular season since 2007 — Nick Saban’s first year.
Tennessee’s defense stuffed Alabama, which gained just 201 yards of total offense. Keelon Russell was intercepted twice and Alabama committed 10 penalties in the loss.
Next up: Alabama (5-2) hosts Texas A&M (4-3)
