Auburn loses 2027 wide receiver Cedrick Simmons to Alabama

Auburn lost a commitment from its 2027 recruiting class Wednesday when Selma wide receiver Cedrick Simmons flipped to Alabama.

Simmons had been committed to Auburn since June 23 after choosing the Tigers over Alabama and Purdue. His change of direction comes less than a month after he joined Alex Golesh's first full recruiting class.

Simmons caught 106 passes for 2,192 yards and 20 touchdowns during the 2025 season at Selma High School. His receiving yardage led all Alabama high school players.

Simmons is rated as a three-star prospect and the No. 24 player in Alabama in the 2027 class, according to the 247Sports Composite. He also is ranked as the nation's No. 39 athlete.

Auburn offered Simmons in May and hosted him for an official visit June 19. Wide receivers coach Kodi Burns led his recruitment for the Tigers.

Simmons becomes Alabama's second wide receiver commitment in the 2027 class. His departure leaves Auburn searching for another receiver as it continues building its class ahead of the December 2027 signing period.
