“We got to have more good plays than bad plays”

This is what sophomore running back Omar Mabson had to say after this morning’s practice. The pattern against LSU was either not being able to move the ball at all or a drive being derailed by a negative play. Mabson knows it will be important against Ole Miss to avoid long yardage situations.

“We were behind the chains a lot, so it was very difficult. And we just got to stay in front of the chains as best as we can,” Mabson said.

This Ole Miss defense has only given up a total of 27 points, at home, in their two conference games. On the road this year, Auburn has scored 41 points in conference play. Mabson told the reporters the key to success on Saturday comes down to execution

“We see a really good defense, we just gotta go execute and play our best game against them,” Mabson said.

Auburn Undercover asked Mabson what the mindset at practice has been like this week, coming off a humbling loss but with plenty of football still to play. “It's a new week, at the end of the day it's a new week. We just got to get ready for the next opponent,” he said.

The Tigers, currently 4-3 on the season, hope to add a fifth win Saturday afternoon against the Rebels. Auburn and Ole Miss will get underway, at 11:45 a.m., from Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
