Steven Pearl
Head Coach
Pearl will be entering his second season as head coach. He took over, last year, for his dad, Bruce. This will be Steven's 13th year overall on the Plains. Last year, he led the Tigers to 17-16 regular season record. This was good enough to earn Auburn a bid into the NIT tournament. The Tigers won their next four games to advance to the NIT championship game. Then, against Tulsa, Auburn tied it up late before eventually prevailing in overtime. As an assistant, Steven helped the Tigers advance to the 2019 and 2025 final four. He has also been a part of five SEC Championship teams.
Ira Bowman
Associate Head Coach
This will be Bowman's ninth season on the Plains. As an assistant, he helped the Tigers advance to the 2019 and 2025 final four. Bowman has also been a part of five SEC Championship teams. Before coming to Auburn, Bowman coached six seasons, at his alma mater, Penn. He played two years there before transferring to Providence. In 2018, Bowman helped the Quakers win their first conference title since 2007. It was also their first NCAA tournament appearance in 11 years. He is married and his son, Jeremiah, will be a sophomore on this year's team.
Corey Williams
Assistant Coach
Williams is entering his 4th season for the Tigers. He helped the Tigers advance to the 2025 Final Four and win the 2026 NIT championship. Before coming to Auburn, Williams coached at Texas Tech and. While with the Red Raiders, he helped them advance to the Sweet 16, in 2022. Before that, Williams helped Arkansas advance to the Elite 8. From 2013 to 2019, he served as the head coach at Stetson University. In 2017, Williams helped lead the Hatters to the ASUN conference championship. Their first title since 1994. Williams played at Oklahoma State, leading the Cowboys to back-to-back Sweet 16 appearances. He was then drafted by the Chicago Bulls. He would help the Bulls win the 1993 NBA championship against the Phoenix Suns.
Mike Burgomaster
Assistant Coach/Offensive Coordinator
This will be Burgomaster's 4th year serving as an assistant coach and offensive coordinator. It will be his 11th year overall at Auburn. He helped the Tigers advance to the 2019 and 2025 Final Four. Burgomaster has also been a part of five SEC championship teams. During his tenure, seven former Tigers have been drafted by NBA teams. Burgomaster graduated, in 2016, from the University of Miami-Florida. While in school, he worked for the Hurricanes basketball team as a student manager. Burgomaster saw the Canes advance to the 2013 and 2016 Sweet 16s. Miami also won the 2013 ACC regular season and tournament championships.
Ian Borders
Assistant Coach
This will be his 9th season on the Plains. Borders helped Auburn advance to the 2019 and 2025 Final Four. He also helped the Tigers capture the program's first ever NIT championship. He began his coaching career, as a graduate assistant, at Florida State University. He saw five former Seminoles make it to the NBA level. After leaving FSU, Borders worked for the Arkansas-Little Rock basketball team. He graduated, in 2007, from the University of Louisville. Borders went on to coach, at South Oldham High School, in Kentucky, He helped them win two regional titles which resulted in two state tournament appearances.
Matt Gatens
Assistant Coach
Gatens is entering his second coaching stint with the Tigers. His first stop was during the 2018 season. This was the year Auburn returned to the NCAA tournament after winning the SEC regular season conference championship. He has coached four years, at Drake University, and three more years at the University of Iowa. At Drake, Gatens saw the Bulldogs win the 2019 Missouri Valley Conference and make the NCAA tournament in 2021. At Iowa, he helped lead the Hawkeyes to one NCAA and NIT tournament appearance. Gatens also played, at Iowa, where he is the school's 10th leading scorer. In 2008, the state of Iowa named Gatens as "Mr. Basketball" and their Gatorade Player of the Year.
