Cody Sigler’s college football journey will end with Auburn.

Even though this will be Sigler’s only season with Auburn, it’s not difficult to see how much the place and the program means to the New Hope, Ala., native.

He’s dedicated this season to helping establish the culture under Alex Golesh.

“My biggest thing is I've been trying to build the culture back up to where it needs to be,” Sigler said. “Coach AG is the right man for this job. He's going to get this place back on track, and I'm trying to do everything in my power to help him get established, not for next season but for the rest of the season.”

This season’s been a mixed bag of results — highlighted by big wins and crushing defeats. Over the last two weeks, it’s been a slew of sluggish performances for the Auburn defense. The group allowed 38 points to LSU and 45 points to Ole Miss, both of which resulted in losses.

“Last two weeks, that wasn't the outcome we wanted, of course,” Sigler said. “We were there with it. We were in it for a little bit, and then we've got to be able to finish. The big thing we're trying to do is just work on finishing, and trying to get back on train tracks.”

It starts by stacking good days of preparation, beginning on Sunday and continuing through Wednesday.

“Those are the days that really set you up for success on Saturdays, and I feel like the games that we did win, Tuesdays and Wednesdays were our best practices,” Sigler said. “The games that we didn't, we kinda came out here sluggish. I feel like that's our biggest thing, and the whole team realizes that and we're able to fix that. We just had a great practice today.”

Auburn begins a more manageable stretch of its schedule this weekend against Arkansas. The Tigers’ next three opponents are a combined 10-15, and while Sigler focuses on the game in front of him, he did acknowledge the opportunity ahead of Auburn.

“We do realize that these next three, next four games that we have are pretty big games for us, (to) get this thing back on track,” Sigler said.

What would a strong finish to the season mean to Sigler?

“It would mean everything,” he said. “That's my main thing I came into this year (with), is focus on each week at a time and realizing what Coach AG can do. My biggest thing, I'm trying to get, like I said, the culture back up. It would mean the world to me just to finish the season strong and get him more set for next season.”

Auburn kicks off against Arkansas on Nov. 7 at 11:45 a.m. CST. The game will air on the SEC Network.
